MASTER OF ART IN COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA STUDIES

Master of Arts in Communication and Media Studies is designed to demonstrate mastery of knowledge in the field of media and communications locally and globally. It is developed to apply practical skills in the field of media and communications and to relate ideas to societal issues in the field of media and communications. Student will undergo research conduct with appropriate supervision and adhere to legal, ethics and professional codes of practice. These criteria are set in order to boast the individual’s potential on leadership qualities towards the current needs of media and communication practice.

Master of Arts in Communication and Media Studies was introduced in 1999 with the objective to provide higher qualification and research skills among scholars. Being offered in full-research mode, full-time student is required to complete the study within one and a half (1.5) years minimum.

Student needs to attend two (2) Graduate Seminars by IPSis and a seminar of Entrepreneurial module (TIE2) by MASMED in order to meet the requirement of Defense of Research Proposal. A viva-voce session will be held upon the completion of study with a thesis writing of about 60,000 words.

Entry Requirements

1. Bachelor (Hons) degree in related field of studies or its equivalent qualification with minimum CGPA of 3.00 from UiTM or a university recognized by UiTM Senate or;
2. A recognized Bachelor (Hons) degree in related field of studies or its equivalent qualification with minimum CGPA of 2.80 and relevant working experience of at least one (1) year or; Candidates without a qualification in the related fields and/or relevant working experience with minimum CGPA based on (i) and (ii) must undergo and pass the prerequisite courses offered by the faculty before enrolling in the program.
3. Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) candidates, Pass MQA (Aptitude Test and Portfolio Assessment): Level 7
