Doctor of Philosophy in Media and Information Warfare Studies (MC991) is developed to aim graduates to synthesize and evaluate knowledge that shall contribute to original research that broadens the frontier of knowledge and forecast new trends in the field of media and information warfare, locally and globally.
Graduates will be able to adapt practical skills leading to innovative ideas in the field of media and information warfare, to be independent to advice the society based on the output of research conducted independently that adhere to legal, ethical and professional codes of practice.
Doctor of Philosophy in Media and Information Warfare Studies (MC991) was introduced in 2006 intended for the advanced students who wish to become specialists in media and information warfare studies, as scholars or practitioners. The candidate has to demonstrate substantial knowledge in their chosen field of specialization and able to pursue original research independently and produce a thesis of about 80,000-100,000 words.
Being offered in full-research mode, full-time student is required to complete the study within three (3) to five (5) years (and within three (3) to six (6) years for Part-time student). Student needs to attend two (2) Graduate Seminars by IPSis and a seminar of Entrepreneurial module (TIE2) by MASMED in order to meet the requirement of Defense of Research Proposal. A viva-voce session will be held upon the completion of Doctoral candidature.
